Wearing punk rock clothing alone doesn’t make you punk. Being punk is a state of mind. Punk is being yourself and not caring what the world thinks. It is an expression of uniqueness. Fashion, in itself, doesn’t make one punk. It is the way you wear the clothes. It is a way of believing. There are many types of punk being represented in the world today. Here are some of the most common types of punk.

Punk Rock Clothing – Punk Rawker/Hot Topic Punk

In today’s world one of the most common type of punk rocker is actually called the Punk Rawker. A punk rawker is a person who does not have the punk state of mind. They primarily just dress the part. They wear faux hawks, wild hair styles/colors, and punk rock clothing, which includes ripped jeans and concert tees from Blink 182. They think they are punk, but they are really just wannabes. Another name for this kind of punk rawker is also the Hot Topic Punk. They walk into the store, throw down a bunch of cash on a crap load of poor quality, punk rock merch. They exit the store thinking that they will acquire the punk state of mind.  However, this conformation doesn’t actually take place so these fake people end up punk rock clothingbeing thrown into this punk rock category.

Punk Rock Clothing – Sk8ter Punk

Another type of punk rocker is the Sk8ter Punk. A Sk8ter punk is someone who mainly spends their time on a board. They do not have the punk ethic. These people pretend to be good skaters while dressing the Sk8ter punk route. They wear skater shoes, and clothes that are damaged. Most of them consider punk rock clothing a Green Day t shirt. These group of punkers do not care about their hair. They grow it out and comb it every few days. These Sk8ter punks think they are bad asses but they are really just lazy, unclean, hormone raging teens with a bit of angst. They spent most of their time on a skateboard or on a couch playing video games while eating Cheetos.

Punk Rock Clothing – Vegan Punk

Then there is the Vegan Punk. This group of punks love heated debates over any hint of inequality. They wear punk rock clothing with statements about cruelty to animals. They live for pumped up discussions about poverty, unethical treatment of animals, politics, and oppression. They are foundpunk rock clothing hanging out in coffee shops and/or munching on vegan burgers with snarls on their faces. Waiting for their next heated argument about some sort of inequality in today’s world is their existence.

Punk Rock Clothing – Classic Punk

Punk rock clothing will not make you a classic punk. You need to be an anarchist. True punks wear tees that make proclamations. For example: Fuck the System! A true punk has to have a tall mohawk, smoke cigarettes, wear tight pants, combat boots or Converse high tops, and vests or leather jackets. They shop in thrift stores not in Hot Topic. A classic punk’s jacket should be very heavy in weight and be worn even in the hottest weather. To be a classic punk one must truly not care what others’ think. Wearing punk rock clothing without a change in lifestyle will not make you a classic punk.

There are many opinions about wearing heavy metal t shirts to the concert. Many say that wearing the band’s t shirt to their concert is a no-no. While others prepare in advanced just to do so. There are no rules on how to dress for a rock concert. There are only opinions and/or suggestions. Take them or leave them. However, in my humble opinion, there are better things to worry about attending a rock concert. Wearing heavy metal t shirts or not wearing them should not be the focus.

Heavy Metal T Shirts – Attending a Rock Concert

For starters make sure to arrive early. Arriving early will allow you to have a restroom break, visit concessions, and  purchase some heavyheavy metal t shirts metal t shirts and/or rock merch. Warning! Arriving intoxicated will not just possibly get you arrested and/or thrown out by security, but will also take away time from actually watching the concert. Too many bathrooms breaks can spoil a concert.  Once in your seat, make an effort to support the band. Rock bands tend to put on a better show if they are being heavily supported by the crowds.

Concerts can be very crowded places. Be polite to the people around you. You will enjoy the show much more if you are getting along with your neighbors. Try not to push or shove as many rock fans can be edgy. Do not insult the people around you and/or complain to them about their behavior. Just chill out and try to have a good time. When the crowd gets up and starts screaming, waving their arms, and dancing – then join them. Others are more than likely not trying to block your view. They are probably extremely excited about the circumstances. Many rock concerts can get a little out of control. Go with the flow as it is fine to get involved with the crowd’s singing, dancing, and screaming. But try to keep all parts of your body to yourself. Do not elbow the people beside you. This behavior could start unwanted arguing and/or fighting. You will be escorted outside the venue for fighting.

Lastly, try to enjoy yourself. The object of the concert is to have fun. Choose your ticket location wisely before making a rushed purchase. Sitting in the stands is a safer area. There are not many pushing and shoving in the heavy metal t shirtsstands. However, the floor is a different place. If you decide to have floor seats be prepared to a lot of pushing and shoving. Try to never fall down as this could lead to being stepped on and possible squashed. If possible, find someone to hold on to if you feel this his happening.

Heavy Metal T Shirts – Concert Attire

Dress casually when attending a rock concert. High heels are not a great choice for a crowded situation as this. Heavy metal concerts goers normally wear heavy metal t shirts in black. Although anything is correct just so you feel comfortable. For the most part, most people do not care what others are wearing. Just use your brain and think about the best attire for the concert. Wearing heavy metal t shirts to concerts can be debatable, buy in my opinion, a good choice.

They have been credited as one of the bands who awoke punk rock from it’s grave. They write and record music with lyrics that mainly consist of far left or radical politics. Rancid was formed by Tim Armstrong and Matt Freeman. Armstrong is the front man/singer as well as guitar player. Freeman plays bass and background vocals. Today’s Rancid line up is complete with guitarist/vocalist, Lars Frederiksen, and Branden Steineckert on drums. They have sold over four million albums worldwide. They have kept most of their original fan base. Rancid has released seven studio albums. Their rise to fame was with their second LP release entitled: Let’s Go. They also have one compilation record, a series of live on-line LPs, a couple ofRancid t shirts extended play records, and finally one split recording. Their eighth studio album is currently in recording, and expected to be release sometime in 2012. Armstrong has stated that this new album will be released after The Transplants release their new one. They will also do a small tour as the supporting act for the Blink 182. I have purchased numerous concert tees over the last 25 years of my life, and I have no plans in changing these purchases. Punk rock clothing is a must for that punk rock look. Specific types of clothing, body modification, hairstyles and jewelry are all worn in punk rock fashion. A mixture of these things make a great punk statement. Over the years punk rock clothing has become very commercialized. Punk rock clothing got its start in the home. People worked with what they had on hand. Making punk rock clothing is fairly simple. Find an old pair of jeans, an old t shirt, markers, safety pins, duct tape, chains, patches, old material and some paint. With some or all of these items you can become a punk rock clothing designer in your own home.

 

Punk Rock Clothing – Become the Designer

It is fairly simple to turn that old t shirt into punk rock clothing. Take the shirt, turn inside out, and twist it in the middle. Use a rubber band to secure the twist. Paint the entire shirt, by spraying or by hand, with a dark colored paint. Let the shirt dry completely. Untwist and decide whether or not to twist once again and paint with a different color. Now let’s get started on the pants. Turn a pair of old jeans inside out. While wearing the jeans make them tight legged or skinny. Using safety pins, gather the loose material down the outside of the leg and pin them in a tight fitting position. If you don’t have safety pins use duct tape to make this same effect. Additional inexpensive zippers, chains, any embellishment can be glued to the legs of the jeans for that punk rock look.

How about wearing a punk rock skirt? Find an old skirt in your closet and shorten it to the desired length. There are many ways to shorten your skirt, but for that punk rock look a glue gun works perfectly. Added buckles, safety pins, patches, old material pieces can also be added using a glue gun.

Punk Rock Clothing – Dressing the Part

Punk rock clothingOnce you have made or purchased the punk rock clothing, you now need to accessorize. Wearing studded bracelets, collars, rubber band bracelets and/or necklaces, ripped stockings, and lots of body modification jewelry makes the perfect accessories. An old pair of Doc Martin boots will work for your shoes. These can be found a thrift stores if they are missing from your closet wardrobe.

Hairstyle is also important in punk rock. First consider dying your hair. Unnatural colors are always semi-permanent. After several washes the color fades. Bleaching hair white first is the key to making vibrant colors in hair. Girls need short ear length hair. One side long and one side short is one way to cut your hair. Mohawks are mainly the chosen hairstyle for punks. Purchase hair glue and play with your hair. Find the punk rock look that fits your face. Punk rock fashion is always your choice. Go against the grain and express the inner you. Punk rock clothing will live on forever!
