There are many places in which rock merch can be purchased in today’s market. Hot Topic is one of the main stores in the US where rock merch can be found. Hot Topic, in general, is a cool store. They have many rock related t shirts, jackets, jewelry, lunch boxes, patches, hats, beanies, belts, buckles, and makeup. However their prices can be outrageous. A concert tee and/or rock merch should not cost you an arm and a leg. The quality of their tees is very low as well. After a couple washes the ultra thin material fades, loses the graphics, and can fall apart at the seems. I have experienced all these problems with their tees. But the main problem I seem to have are the holes these shirts develop in the lower front half. I believe it is from such thin material being pulled on by a desk, counter, or even seat belt. The quality of their t shirts should represent their outlandish prices. In my opinion, a t shirt should last months before becoming trashed.

Finding rock merch in retail stores is much easier than it use to be. Shopping in Target, Dillard’s, Macy’s, and even Wal-Mart one can locate rock merch. The prices vary according to the store. The shirts, rock merch, found at these places can be of much better quality than that of Hot Topic. However, each store’s quality varies and some of the band tees at these places can be made of that crappy material as from Hot Topic. Also the selection will be limited to just a few bands. My advice is to shop around until you find that the quality of the shirt matches the price. Also these store chains are not usually located in malls. Which saves you the hassle of huge crowds.  Plus the return policies at these stores last longer than that of Hot Topic.

Many people avoid shopping the internet for many reasons. For starters, shipping and handling take longer to received and cost extra money. Another reason is that the rock merch being purchased cannot be actually felt or held. It is hard to know if the tees you are buying online are top quality or not. In today’s world one of the most common type of punk rocker is actually called the Punk Rawker. A punk rawker is a person who does not have the punk state of mind. They primarily just dress the part. Another type of punk rocker is the Sk8ter Punk. A Sk8ter punk is someone who mainly spends their time on a board. They do not have the punk ethic. These people pretend to be good skaters while dressing the Sk8ter punk route. They wear skater shoes, and clothes that are damaged. Most of them consider punk rock clothing a Green Day t shirt. These group of punkers do not care about their hair. They grow it out and comb it every few days. These Sk8ter punks think they are bad asses but they are really just lazy, unclean, hormone raging teens with a bit of angst. There are no rules on how to dress for a rock concert. There are only opinions and/or suggestions. Take them or leave them. However, in my humble opinion, there are better things to worry about attending a rock concert. Wearing heavy metal t shirts or not wearing them should not be the focus.

For starters make sure to arrive early. Arriving early will allow you to have a restroom break, visit concessions, and  purchase some heavy metal t shirts and/or rock merch. Warning! Arriving intoxicated will not just possibly get you arrested and/or thrown out by security, but will also take away time from actually watching the concert. When the crowd gets up and starts screaming, waving their arms, and dancing – then join them. Others are more than likely not trying to block your view. They are probably extremely excited about the circumstances. Many rock concerts can get a little out of control. Go with the flow as it is fine to get involved with the crowd’s singing, dancing, and screaming. But try to keep all parts of your body to yourself. Do not elbow the people beside you. This behavior could start unwanted arguing and/or fighting. You will be escorted outside the venue for fighting.

Lastly, try to enjoy yourself. The object of the concert is to have fun. Choose your ticket location wisely before making a rushed purchase. Sitting in the stands is a safer area. There are not many pushing and shoving in the stands. However, the floor is a different place. If you decide to have floor seats be prepared to a lot of pushing and shoving. Try to never fall down as this could lead to being stepped on and possible squashed. If possible, find someone to hold on to if you feel this his happening.
